How to Write a Brand Deal Brief That Athletes Accept
April 2026·4 min read
Why Athletes Decline Briefs
The most common reasons an athlete declines or ignores a brand brief:
- —The ask is unclear — they don't know what they're agreeing to
- —The rate is too low for the effort involved
- —The brand doesn't fit their audience or personal values
- —The timeline is unrealistic
A good brief eliminates all four objections before they form.
The Brief Template
- —Who you are (2–3 sentences) — What does your brand do, who's your customer, and why are you on Endorsr?
- —What you're asking for (be specific) — Not 'some social content'. Instead: 'One Instagram Reel, 30–60 seconds, featuring [product] in use. No script — your words, your style.'
- —Key messages (max 3) — The facts you want communicated.
- —What you're NOT asking for — Athletes appreciate knowing what you don't need.
- —Rate and payment terms — State the rate upfront. Endorsr holds payment in escrow until the deliverable is approved.
- —Timeline — Submission deadline and go-live date. Give at least 10 days from acceptance to submission.
Tone
Write to the athlete like a collaborator, not a contractor. The best performing brand deals on Endorsr read like partnerships — the athlete has creative input and the brand gets authentic content. Keep the brief to one screen. If it takes more than 90 seconds to read, it's too long.
